New Year Message from the President

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and as we now look forward to a New Year I thought I would pen a few words to you all, following Charlie’s Christmas message.

Sterling work has been done behind the scenes by your committee and members, although as the majority of our fundraising efforts have been directed towards the new changing rooms the existing club house facilities are starting to look a bit care worn. With regard to planning permission for the new changing rooms this has still to be received (original deadline for news was 21st December) and I have had a word with my son (local councillor) who will chase them up on our behalf. Fingers crossed for the result we need and want.

There are several important vacancies that need to be filled – sponsorship probably being the most important and does not necessarily involve being on the committee but Daren needs all the support and help he can get if we are to fund the new improvements to the clubhouse changing rooms. If you feel you can help please get in touch with Daren, Charlie or myself or, indeed, if there is any role you are interested in helping with.

The three missed games from the first part of the season have been rearranged for January and this should mean that we can look forward to completing the second half of the season once they have been played and our team will hopefully finish in the top half of their league. Our thanks for the results already achieved go to the team and Pete Jones, GK and the rest of coaching team.

The Ewes have had an extraordinary year and we are all looking forward to seeing more of them on the field of play and I applaud you all for your enthusiasm and determination.

The little lambs and juniors continue under the leadership of their coaches and without rugby union being played in schools this is an important resource feeder for our senior teams.

Finally, and by no means last, my thanks to Lee, Donna and Matt for all their hard work in the bar and kitchen – they and their staff are the engine the club runs on even as we acknowledge the strain this puts on them.

We have an exciting year to look forward to and I hope that 2023 will be a happy and healthy year for us all.

Love,

Lin Neal
