Sheppey Mourn the loss of Prop Jim Jewison, but new arrivals further bolster the squad.

Key player Jim Jewison, who cemented his place in the 1st XV since his arrival during the summer has sadly left the side due to the expiration of his visa. Since Jim joined the side he made a total of 13 appearances for the 1st XV and score 3 tries in the process, he played his final against Gillingham Anchorians in the teams 20-8 loss. Jim will be returning to his home town club, The Dallas Harlequins. We wish Jim well and hope he returns to us in the future.

Despite the loss of Jim, The club have welcomed 3 new players to the squad; George Ironside (Fly Half), Jamie Carmillet (Scrum Half) and Andre Pakau (Centre/Fullback).

George joins us from Portuguese club, Cascais Rugby. George travelled to the Isle of Sheppey just before Christmas and has already made an impact in the side both on the field and in the training paddock. Ironside, has previously played for rep side Wellington Maoris where he was the teams highest points scorer in 2005 and 2006 at the end of the season he will be flying to Sydney to play in the Shute Shield, the premier grade rugby trophy in NSW.

Jamie Carmillet has joined the club following his departure from fellow Kent side Aylesford Bulls, where he has played since the age of 17 the now 23 year old scrum-half will be making the short trip down the M20 in hope of some more 1st XV Rugby. Jamie has previously played for Teeside University 1st XV and Redcar RFC, Carmillet is also an avid 7's player, playing for his university side Teeside Titans, winning the national university champions title in 2010 and also winning silverware at the Dubai 7's international Invitational Social tournament with his team the Pie and Pint Pilgrims. Carmillet nade his debut for the 1st XV against Gillingham Anchorians on the 11th January

Andre Pakau has joined the club since good friend Ironside joined. Pakau has previously played for kiwi club, Oriental Rongotai Rugby Club. Pakau made a big impact on his debut against Old Dunstonians linking well with fellow kiwi ironside amd coming close to scoring on several occasions.

Sheppey RFC Wish George, Jamie and Andre well and hope they enjoy their time at the club.
