As many members will be aware, we have been working for a number of years now to improve our club’s facilities. Having got to the stage of being able to submit a planning application to Swale Borough Council, we were confident of progressing this project further.

However in light of the global recession, other local developments and the exorbitant cost of the planning application, we have decided to rationalise our vision and to work on a project that better represents club members’ interests as well as the club’s resources.

Having met with our planning consultant, the architect and the strategic sub-group of the main committee, we are still fully focused on developing our clubhouse to suit our rugby aspirations and to meet the needs of the community.

We are now looking at building out from our existing clubhouse to provide the facilities and space we need. This will be far more cost-effective and achievable for us and soon in the New Year we hope to be able to show drawings and designs.

The club’s committee remain determined to improve our facilities, but will not jeopardise the club’s resources to achieve this.

If members would like further details or to contribute to the project, then please contact me.

Best wishes

Neil Golding (Chairman)
