Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.  It is also important that we keep you up to date with what is going on at the club.

Junior Rugby

Back in November when we entered Tier 4 of the Government lockdown restrictions, we took the difficult but sensible decision to close down Junior rugby to keep everyone safe.  Unfortunately, the world has not significantly changed and the reasons for closure remain as current now as they were back then.  With that in mind, Junior rugby will remain cancelled until further notice.

However, on a brighter note the Junior Rugby Coaching team will be putting together a series of training drills that can be carried out at home to continue to build fitness and rugby skills.  They will be released in the future on club social media.

Senior Rugby

Senior rugby will remain closed.

Finances

As a club we are in the fortunate situation of owning the club and the grounds.  This not only means that we do not have rent/mortgage to pay, but also means that we have access to government grants to help businesses survive.  As a club we are in a reasonable financial position and looking at current projections we will survive the current financial storm.

Projects

Despite the closure we will continue to develop club.

We have managed to get a grant from Sport England and support funding from the VP Club to upgrade the floodlighting.  The intention is to upgrade the current lighting with vertical posts and modern energy efficient light fittings.  It is also our aim to expand the floodlit area onto the other bottom pitch to enable more space for training so social distancing can be maintained.  Hopefully work on this will commence soon.

Merchandise

We still have plenty of Sheppey RFC branded stock available for purchase.  Until we reopen please email sales@sheppeyrfc.org to place an order.
