Saturday saw the club coming together to play an intra-club match in memory of recently departed friends and members and to honour our Patron Saint. A large crowd attended to witness the teams of Youth v Wisdom take to the field to play for the Alf Stupple Memorial trophy. A beautifully sunny day encouraged the crowd and it was made even better by the return of some former members who have been absent for a considerable time.
A close and keenly contested match saw Wisdom eventually win 32 to 29.
An excellent 4 course lunch was enjoyed by the supporters and also a raffle managed to raise £453 towards the extension project.
Presentations were also made to some of the unsung heroes of the club. Thanks went to Donna Bricknell for the constant work put in behind the scenes organising the club events. Presentations were also made to Ian Broughton and David Wootton for their work with the SAS under 18 players.
The day also saw the launch of the "Memorial Flame" light to the Memorial gates which will continue to come on during the hours of darkness.
