I have been a member of Sheppey Rugby Club for many, many years and have represented 1st, 2nd, 3rd XV sides and, more recently, our Vets team.

I became Director of Rugby last season and it is an honour to work alongside my brother, Lee, who became Club Captain at around the same time.
We have qualified (Level 2) and experienced coaches and pride ourselves that they are local boys who have played for Sheppey. As a unit, we embrace Rugby Union’s core values of teamwork and enjoyment. We are more than a team on the field, we enjoy great socials in the bar and our recent end of season tour was a great success.

Respect, Discipline and Sportsmanship are very important to us but most of all, we want you to come to Sheppey and enjoy the game. Whatever your level of experience we welcome new and returning players and put the emphasis on
enjoying your time with us over that of winning. Of course, we do enjoy winning – who doesn’t? So, come along and train with us on a Tuesday or a Thursday (preferably both), bring the family along to matches, we have plenty of room for them to run around (as long as they’re supervised) and they are very welcome in our clubhouse. Last season, a sizeable number of our partners went up to Twickenham for a Barbarians’ game so it’s a good social life for the whole family. Many of our
players’ children come along to our Lambs and Youth section on a Sunday morning and some of the parents have started playing rugby or have returned to rugby – it’s that sort of club.

I hope I see you soon at Sheppey, please come along or contact one of us so we can tell you anything you need to know about joining this great game. Or just come along and watch and join us for all our Rugby World Cup events as a social member.
