SHEPPEY RFC - PRESS RELEASE

On Tuesday 1st February, we attended the Kent County Rugby Football Union (KCRFU) Disciplinary Hearing concerning the abandoned game between Lordswood and Sheppey on 23rd October 2010.
Sheppey RFC were represented in number by Club Officers, Head Coach, witnesses and the two players charged with offences. We presented a thorough and well considered case in what was a long and difficult evening.
The outcomes of this hearing are:
Martin Robinson received a 3 week ban (reduced from 6 weeks)
Chris Bain received a 4 week ban (reduced from 5 weeks)
Warning as to future conduct of all adult sides
Original match declared void as 0-0 draw but no league points awarded
Found guilty of bringing game into disrepute, but no (ie zero) points reduction
Administration costs of £300

It is our recomendation to the Club's Committee that we do not lodge an appeal to the RFU.
We recognise that the KCRFU gave us a fair and detailed hearing.

Whilst expressing some disapointment with the sanctions imposed, we appreciate that the matter is finally resolved and that we can now concentrate on our remaining league and cup campaigns.

N Golding (Chairman) Andy Hosken (Director of Rugby)
